Lay Eucharistic Visitors are parishioners who have discerned a particular call to the pastoral ministry of bringing communion to those who are sick or shut-in immediately following Sunday services. The ministry of LEVs, as they are often called, is an extension of Lay Eucharistic Ministry. LEVs receive special training and oversight by parish clergy and are licensed by the Bishop to perform this important pastoral ministry. We provide special communion kits to LEVs that are placed on the altar following a Sunday service with bread and wine from the Eucharistic celebration, and LEVs receive a special sending out by the presider and congregation. They process out with the choir and ministers of the Eucharist and go directly to make their pastoral visit.
