Luke grew up in rural Ohio, where he was involved in music in his home church from an early age, and served as organist for his home (Lutheran) congregation his senior year of high school. He has a Bachelor of Music in church music from Valparaiso University, and he earned a Master in Sacred Music from Luther Seminary. Professional organization memberships include the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, and the Hymn Society. On a given Sunday morning, he may be observed playing organ, piano, and accordion, as well as singing liturgical music and conducting the various choirs at Trinity. When not practicing or preparing for rehearsals he enjoys cooking, swing dancing, watching British television, and reading.
